A Theory of History?

Paul Romer has an idea that can speed up global economic growth and increase the standards of living (as measured by light in his lecture) for people across the globe. His lecture entitled A Theory of History: with an Application, sheds some light on the possibility of new sets of dynamic rules governing carefully planned cities in the quest for global innovation. I do see this as a real possibility, although the whole idea of displacing existing inhabitance of an area in order to develope these cities has to be looked into further. More thoughts on this to come, but if you have 50 min to spare, it's well worth the time to view this lecture.
